Summaries & drafts

The AI can sum up a thread and write a reply for you. Both only run when you ask.

Summarize a thread

Open a thread and click Summarize, or run Summarize thread from the command palette (⌘ K). The summary appears at the top of the thread and is saved, so it's there next time.

Summaries use a small, fast model on Cloudflare Workers AI by default. You can pick another in AI models.

Draft a reply

1. Press R to reply or A to reply all.
2. Optionally, tell the AI what to say: "decline politely", "propose Tuesday 2pm".
3. Click Draft with AI or press ⌘ J. It reads the thread and writes the reply.
4. Edit it. Click Rewrite with AI with new instructions to try again.
5. Press ⌘ ↵ to send, or save it as a draft.

Drafts are real Gmail drafts, so you can finish one on your phone.

Writing tools

• Formatting. The editor sends rich-text email. Markdown shortcuts work as you type, and pasted Markdown is converted. ⌘ Z undoes a shortcut.
• Attachments. Attach files from your Mac, or insert links to Google Drive files from the toolbar.
• Contacts. Addresses autocomplete from your Google contacts.
• Signature. Set one in Settings → Signature, or click Import from Gmail.
